River Ramble is a dance theatre performance that intertwines the story of Singapore—connecting past, present, and future—through the flowing narrative of its iconic lifeline, the Singapore River.
Drawing on the grace of Odissi-based choreographic movement and the expressive power of Natyam (Indian theatre), the performance traces the River’s journey from its origins in a humble fishing village, through the turbulent days of industrialisation and pollution, to its revitalisation in the modern era.
This is not just the story of a river, but of a nation—of struggle, loss, resilience, and renewal. As the River transforms, it reflects the evolution of a people, carrying with it the intangible heritage of communities, the shifts in urban identity, and the rekindling of biodiversity and human connection.
River Ramble is a poetic call to action. A moment to pause, to honour our shared past, and to recommit ourselves to the stewardship of the planet.
Join us on an emotional ramble alongside the Singapore River.
