6.10pm to 6.50pm - Adithya and Vaishnav, students of Guru Shri. Muthu Subramanian will be presenting a mridangam solo (Layavinyaasam). 7pm to 8.30pm - Carnatic Vocal Concert by Vid. N S Kamakshi with Vid. Raghul Ravichandran (Violin), Vid. Neyveli S Skandasubramaniam (Mridangam) and Vid. Nerkunam Dr. S Sankar (Kanjira).

About the musicians


N.S Kamakshi (Vocals)

N.S Kamakshi is one of the most promising carnatic musicians in the current crop of young artists. Hailing from Nerkunam village in Thiruvannamalai District, she was born in 1980 to Sri K Suriyanarayanan and Smt S Vasantha. Kamakshi is a disciple of Sangita KalaAcharya Smt Suguna Vadhachari. She also learnt from the great legend Sethalapathy S R Balasubramanian. N.S Kamakshi also learnt violin from Sangita KalaAcharya Prof Parur M S Anantharaman. N.S Kamakshi has more than 24 years of experience in the field of carnatic music by performing and teaching. She is a B High Grade Artist of Air Chennai and holds a Masters Degree in Indian Music.


Raghul Ravichandran (Violin)

Raghul Ravichandran is a disciple of Smt. Vasantha Kannan, Sri. P. Govindarajan and Sangita Kalanidhi Violin Legend Dr. M. Chandrasekaran. He started learning at the age of 6 and started performing at the age of 16. He is an A grade artiste of AIR and Doordarshan. He travels around the world performing concerts with leading artistes and also gives solo performances. He is also keen on passing on this unique style to passionate students and has disciples around the globe.


Neyveli S Skandasubramanian (Mridangam)

Neyveli S Skandasubramanian started early under legendary Guru Thiruvarur Shri. R Krishnamurthy who taught him the value of discipline and able fingering. With the help of the Government of India scholarship, he pursued further training with SangitaKalanidhi Thiruvarur Shri Bhakthavatsalam in Chennai. Constant exposure to renowned musicians taught him agility and adaptability. He has been performing for over 3 decades in various leading Sabas all over the world, and is a much sought after accompanist. He is an A graded artist of AIR Chennai. Some of his awards include Vanikala Nipuna, Youvakalabharathi, etc.


Nerkunam Dr S Sankar (Kanjira)

Nerkunam Dr S Sankar is a Top Grade Kanjira Artist of All India Radio and a prime disciple of the legendary Kanjira maestro, the late Sri G Harishankar. With an academic background including an M.A., M.Phil, and Ph.D. in Rhythmology, Dr Shankar has been accompanying all the leading musicians in India and abroad for more than 25 years. He is also a dedicated teacher of his unique style and technique to many students all over the globe. A pioneer in his field, he has designed a modern age new Kanjira featuring kangaroo skin.
